My Story
I’m originally from Colorado but have called Texas my home for the last 10 years. I’m married to my childhood friend, Chris, and together we have four awesome kids: Lilly, Derek, Cooper, and Amy. As a family, we love fishing, hiking, camping, and generally spending as much time outside as possible. I have both my BA and MA in English, and before finding my passion for teaching, I worked as a professional writer for several organizations. This background has shaped my commitment to helping students think deeply and engage meaningfully with the stories in and around them.
What church do you attend?
Christ Community Church in Stone Oak
What do you love most about teaching, coaching, or working at SACS?
As a teacher at SACS, I get to combine my passions for English and Jesus. My students will tell you I am *very* enthusiastic about the vital importance of reading and writing, especially in the life of a believer. The stories we tell shape the way we view ourselves, others, history, and God, and therefore being able to read and write those stories is of the utmost importance for understanding and developing a worldview.
Favorite Bible verse
Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”
What are your hobbies and interests?
I love reading and writing (obviously), knitting and crocheting, camping, hiking, fishing, cooking and baking, gardening, and painting. Basically, my interest is constantly trying and learning new things!
