My Story

When I was ten one of my twin brothers died of a rare form of cancer. The surviving brother and I became very close, and I taught him everything I knew about sports. I was a three-sport letterman in high school (soccer, basketball, and baseball). I was a college All-American in baseball and played in the Div III World Series. After College, I earned a master’s degree in teaching from Whitworth with plans to someday be a head coach at a University. God had other plans. I started coaching in high school and found out how much I love high school kids. 30 years later that is where I still am, sharing my faith, teaching, and coaching high school kids.

Favorite Bible verse

Philippians 4:8-14 – “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, think about these things. 9 As for the things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you. 10 But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at last you have revived your concern for me; indeed, you were concerned before, but you lacked an opportunity to act. 11 Not that I speak from need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I am. 12 I know how to get along with little, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. 13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me. 14 Nevertheless, you have done well to share with me in my difficulty.”
